About
I am currently the Creative Director at two New York-based startups, Wanderfly and Honestly Now. Beyond my startup work, I maintain a loyal base of clients with the company I founded, Dot & Smudge LLC; most recently, I architected and designed a new website and content management system for The Cooper Union.I was previously an Art Director at Funny Garbage, where I worked from 2007–2010 designing large-scale interactive projects. In addition to Art Direction and Design, I took on the role of Information Architect. As an Art Director, I created and maintained visual systems, kept current with design software and technology, presented work effectively, maintained both internal and client relationships, and led others. I managed designers, freelance resources, and the design internship department. Other duties included writing and preparing new business proposals, project management, and making technology decisions.
Prior to joining FG in early 2007, I was an Art Director at Inc Design, where I worked with Fortune 500 companies and other corporate clients on annual reports, advertisements, print materials, and websites. At Inc Design, I managed a small team of designers and freelancers.
I studied graphic design at the Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst, Basel, Switzerland, and graduated with a BFA from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in Manhattan. At Cooper, I concentrated in graphic arts, video, and animation. In Basel I studied typography and structure with the masters, including Wolfgang Weingart.
In 2009, two sites that I art directed for FG received prestigious awards: a Webby Official Honoree
(nyc-arts.org) and an Interactive Media Award (landmarks.utexas.edu). In 2004, I was named one of the “Top Young Designers in New York” by the Art Directors Club. That year, I received the Lubalin Fellowship, which funded her exhibit about the role of the computer in design.I am interested in typography, graffiti, video and media arts, and comedy. I have a collection of hot-dog–shaped candy that people have given me in response to my side project, Absolute Würst.
